Two different pairs. Example: Jack-Jack and Nine-Nine.
One pair. Common in play, but easy to beat.

Most new players play far too many hands. Being disciplined about selecting strong starting hands — especially from early position — is the single most important foundation to build on. Fold more, play less, but play with greater aggression.
Acting after your opponents is a major edge in poker. In the button (dealer) position, you get to see every opponent's action before making your own decision. Use this positional advantage to play more hands and make sharper calls.
Bet too small and you give opponents a cheap chance to chase a draw. Bet too large and you drive everyone out. Generally, a bet of 50%–75% of the pot strikes the right balance — substantial enough to be meaningful, yet hard for opponents to read.
Think beyond your own hand — consider what your opponent might be holding based on how they've played from the start. A board of Ace-King-Queen is a very different situation from 7-8-9 in terms of the range of hands your opponent could have.
Never sit at a table where the buy-in exceeds 5% of your total poker bankroll. This protects you from the inevitable variance in poker and ensures you can keep playing even through a rough stretch of sessions.
